Loose valves cause loud clattering noises; tight valves cause rough idling, power loss, and burnt exhaust valves. Inspect clearances when the engine is completely cold. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the timing mark on the crankshaft pulley aligns with the "0" mark on the lower timing cover. Check that the hole in the camshaft timing gear aligns with the TDC mark on the bearing cap behind it. Can’t copy the link right now
