The problem arises with PDF generation libraries. The script is complex, composed of 74 characters with many subscript consonants and diacritics that combine in non-linear ways (e.g., subscripts can appear above, below, before, or after the main character). If a PDF generation library doesn't know how to interpret the Unicode codepoints for Khmer and doesn't have access to a proper Khmer font, it will fail to render the text correctly, resorting to placeholder boxes. flutter khmer pdf
